Responsive Opening Words | based on I Corinthians 14
ONE: Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit. Even in the case of lifeless things that make
sounds, such as the pipe or harp, how will anyone know what tune is being played unless there is a
distinction in the notes?
ALL: There are all sorts of languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning.
ONE: Of the many gifts of the Spirit, we will try to excel at those that build up the church.
ALL: We will pray to the spirit, and we will also pray with understanding;
We will sing to the spirit, and we will also sing with understanding.
ONE: When we come together, each of us has a hymn, or a word of instruction; a revelation,
a tongue or an interpretation.
ALL: Everything we do will be done to follow the way of love.
We will eagerly seek the many gifts of the Spirit so that the church may be built up.

♫Scripture Song | “God Help the Outcasts” | Menken/Schwartz (from Disney’s, Hunchback of Notre Dame)
Mona Lange-Wisdom, vocals and Kevin Jones, piano
I don't know if you can hear me or if you're even there.
I don't know if you would listen to [my humble] prayer
Yes, I know I'm just an outcast, I shouldn't speak to you
Still, I see your face and wonder, were you once an outcast too?
God help the outcasts hungry from birth, show them the mercy they don't find on earth.
God, help [the] people, we look to you still. God, help the outcasts or nobody will.
[Some] ask for wealth, [some] ask for fame. [some] ask for glory to shine on [their] name.
I ask for love, I can possess. I ask for God and [the] angels to bless me.
I ask for nothing, I can get by but I know so many less lucky than I.
Please help [the] people, the poor and down trod,
I thought we all were the children of God.
God, help the outcasts, children of God.
