Deacons provide a "ministry of presence," being directly involved in the lives of congregation members. The deacons also facilitate some of the most important parts of our special worship experiences, including Love Feast and communions. They embody what it means to be 'a priesthood of all believers. The Stewardship of Finance Team is responsible for carrying out the church’s mission and vision related to finance. Responsibilities include overseeing the budget and special funds such as memorial, scholarship and Good Samaritan funds; solicitation of funds; and responsibilities for team members such as the financial secretary, financial management advisors, and money counters.
The Communication Team is responsible for carrying out the church’s mission and vision related to communication. Responsibilities include informing the congregation and others through the newsletter, brochures, articles for the local news media and Messenger, and a church web page; and overseeing audiovisual tasks including videotaping worship.

The Outreach Team is responsible for carrying out the church‚s mission and vision related to its outreach. Responsibilities include providing activities for peace and justice issues, evangelism, disaster relief, CROP, special outreach offerings, and work camps such as the Puerto Rico trip; securing ushers, greeters and the Ambassadors; maintaining relationships with the Cedars, McPherson College, Churches United in Ministry, and the Council of Churches; and serving the community in other ways.
The Stewardship of Property Team is responsible for carrying out the church’s mission and vision related to property. Responsibilities include overseeing the church property, including the exterior and interior of building, the grounds, and church vehicles; and being responsible for insurance, custodial care, and renovation planning.
The Worship Team is responsible for carrying out the church’s mission and vision related to worship. Responsibilities include working with the pastors in planning for variety in worship and include responsibilities for planning worship centers, seasonal celebrations, historical celebrations, personal and group meditation; and for overseeing worship-related areas such as our outdoor sign, the acolytes, and recording attendance.
The Faith Formation Team is responsible for carrying out the church’s mission and vision related to faith formation. Responsibilities include providing for and overseeing membership classes, Sunday School teachers and curricula, Bible study, and Lafiya; children’s activities including our nursery, pre-school, Vacation Bible School, the childrens message during church, and Kids’ TEAMM.
The Youth Team is responsible for carrying out the church’s mission and vision related to youth work. Responsibilities include providing programming for middle school and high school youth, including regular meetings, work camps and retreats, camping activities, and Scouting; Regional Youth Conference, National Youth Conference, and Christian Citizenship Seminar; mentors for youth; and youth finances and fundraising.
The Fellowship Team is responsible for carrying out the church’s mission and vision related to fellowship and hospitality. Responsibilities include TEAMM, Mack Men’s Fellowship, and Women’s Ministries; overseeing services such as the Meals Network, Social Committee, Reception Committee, Courtesy Committee, transportation, and flowers for hospitalized and bereaved; and coordination of church sports activities.
